Pierre Melanson and his wife, Marie Granger, were still living in 1790, because they are listed on the "List of French persons...Heads of families...He died during 1791 because his name is not listed in 1792. document from Irene Terrio - name,born in 1721 "aux Mines"(Halifax);upon reaching manhood, he emigrated to Memramcook where around 1742 he married his first wife,Marguerite Hebert. They had three children. In 1755,he fled to the East side of the Memramcook River, just below Dorchester,with his wife and children. He then fled to Cocagne(N.B.) wher his first wife died in 1757. He spent the winter in the Miramichi under unbelieveable conditions...that spring he headed to the Saint John River; two years later, in 1759, he married Marie Doiron. Later in that year they are found in Halifax. Two sons were born in Halifax. In 1768 this family lived at l'Entree , near Halifax and the following year he was at Minudie, from where he emigrated to Fox Creek (Ruisseau-des- Renards) near Saint Anselme,N.B. There his name appears on a tract of land granted to the Acadians of the region on May 29, 1789 by the Government of New Brunswick.

However,the Acadian prisoners were able to seize the boat and steer it to the mouth of the Saint John River. Note on page 49 of English Translation says"Some genealogists have said that Bernard Bourg's daughter (Anne dit) Jeanne married Charles Melanson. This identification is evidently based upon the ages attributed to her in the censuses; Bernard Bourg's daughter Jeanne and Charles Melanson's wife (Anne dit) Jeanne were both born about 1678. But if Charles Melanson's wife (Anne dit) Jeanne Bourg were really Bernard Bourg's daughter, then her son Pierre Melanson would havemarried his first cousin, Marie-Josephe Granger, whose mother was also BernardBourg's daughter(Marie). On the contrary, as the record of the marriage of Pierre Melanson and Marie-Josephe Granger, shows (Port Royal reg. 1 Feb 1746), the mothers of thisMelanson couple were only first cousins. Given that Marguerite Boudrot and Pierre LeBlanc's wife Madeleine Bourg appear among the godparents of Charles Melanson's children, it follows that it was (Anne dit) Jeanne the daughter of Francois Bourg and Marguerite Boudrot who married Charles Melanson. Jeanne Bourg, Bernard's daughter, thus married into the family of Claude Dugas, just as three of her sisters and one of her brothers did.Placide Gaudet apparently drew the same conclusion(Genealogies acadiennes p 655).
