    Burnell "Bernie"Belliveau

    Burnell"Bernie" R. Belliveau JOGGINS - The death of Burnell "Bernie" R. Belliveau, age 75, of Joggins, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre on Sunday, January 6, 2007(sic). Born in Joggins, N.S., he was a son of Anthony and Flora (MacDonald) Belliveau. Bernie grew up in Joggins and was very active in all sports activities, including hockey, baseball, curling, boxing, and later with the Senior Bowling League in Amherst. He was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. He began work at the mine in Joggins, after its closure, he moved to Sifto Salt in Nappan until his retirement. A die hard sports enthusiast, Bernie is remembered by all for his love of the Red Sox. His friends and family will miss his wonderful smile and constant teasing. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ethel, his two daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Strathearn, Amherst and Tracy Belliveau (Mike Coolen), St. Margaret's Bay; six grandchildren, Jessica, Evan, Kelsey, Bailey, Ritchie, and Matthew; two great grandchildren, Rachel and Parker; a brother Russell, St. Catherine's,two brothers by choice, Norman (Beverly), St. Catherine's and Richard, Toronto, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Jeffrey, a sister, Margaret and a brother, Lester. Arrangements are in care of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at 2 p.m., Father David MacDonald officiating. Cremation has taken place, burial will take place in the Ragged Reef Cemetery in the spring.
