    Occupation:
    While he lived along the Baie de Chaleurs, Alexis Landry started up a trade with the English merchants who were established there. Merchants, like Moore & Finlay, Amesbury & Bard, Charles Robin, William Smith and George Walker. He would purchase different commodities from them, paying them in return with fish and wild game.

    He constructed brigatines, fishing boats, etc.

    Don Landry supplied the photo of the list of founders of Caraquet which was on the wall of the small chapel located at Sainte Anne de Bocage, Gloucester County, New Brunswick, Canada.

    By marrying the widow Cormier, Alexis Landry was entitled to the Cormier property, which he took possession of and then settled on at Beaubassin.

    Residence:
    In the autumn of 1761, the tranquility of Sainte Anne de Bocage was interrupted by a suprise expedition of the English army commanded by Riderick MacKenzie. Acadians were taken prisonner and taken to Nipisiguit where they were left under the surveillence of the Indian chief, Pokemouche, with intentions of the army returning in the spring to retrieve them. But the Acadians fled Caraquet area and sought refuge on the north side of the Bay of Chaleur.


    Residence:
    He and his family settled in Miscou in the spring of 1769. Also he obtained written permission from Judge George Walker of Nipisiquit to retake possession of his old property at Sainte Anne de Bocage.

    Buried:
    After turning age 60, Alexis donated some of his land for construction of a church, parsonage, and cemetery with some conditions attached: a free bench at the front of the church and he and his wife must be buried in the church after they died. When the church at Sainte Anne de Bocage was demolished after the construction of a new church in 1820 at Pointe de Roche, the remains of Alexis and his wife were exhumed and interred in the small cemetery at Bocage.
