According to Placide Gaudet, Charles was 18 when he left Ile St.Jean to reach Minudie in Nova Scotia...

They had three children. In 1755,he fled to the East side of the Memramcook River, just below Dorchester,with his wife and children. He then fled to Cocagne(N.B.) wher his first wife died in 1757. He spent the winter in the Miramichi under unbelieveable conditions...that spring he headed to the Saint John River; two years later, in 1759, he married Marie Doiron. Later in that year they are found in Halifax. Two sons were born in Halifax. In 1768 this family lived at l'Entree , near Halifax and the following year he was at Minudie, from where he emigrated to Fox Creek (Ruisseau-des- Renards) near Saint Anselme,N.B. There his name appears on a tract of land granted to the Acadians of the region on May 29, 1789 by the Government of New Brunswick.
