In Memory of Marion Elmore Smith January 29, 1918 - December 7, 2015
Marion E. Smith, formerly of Digby, NS, now residing in Halifax, passed away at Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII on Monday, December 7, 2015. Born in Little Harbour, Shelburne County on January 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Caroline (Harding) Swansburg.
She was a graduate of the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in Halifax, Class of 1941 and served in the R.C.A. M.C. during the Second World War. She was also a certified Drug Clerk and, along with her husband Sydney, owned and operated Smith's Drug Store in Digby for a number of years.Â
She was an active member of the Digby Baptist Church and served on various committees over the years.Â
She was predeceased by her husband, Sydney and sister, Dorothy (Penney). She is survived by her brothers, Merton Swansburg, and Carman Swansburg; sister, Beatrice Delong; son, Scott and grandchildren, Claire and Ian.
A memorial service will be held at the Digby Baptist Church at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2015 with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to any charity.Marion — Sidney Lewis Smith.
