    MacGREGOR, Alexander M. "Alex" - Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Big Island where he resided until November 1997, died peacefully in his 87th year, surrounded by family members, Friday, February 25, 2000, in the Villa. Born in Big Island, he was a son of the late George Alexander and Mary Jane (Crockett) MacGregor. He was a farmer all his life and a fisherman for 44 years. He was a mail driver for 20 years and was retired from the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton. He had been married to his late wife for 52 years and was an avid card player in later years. He was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, a past member of the board of managers and an elder. Surviving are his daughter, Joyce (Mrs. James Howard), Park Falls; sons, Robert (Irene), New Glasgow; Lyall (Sharon), Hammond Plains; Gordon (Brenda), New Glasgow; Byron (Helen), Big Island; Lloyd (Angela), Lower Sackville; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Isabel (Dewar); sisters, Hannah and Eva Donelda; brother, Crockett. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in P & K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Jessie Johnson officiating, assisted by Rev. Glenn MacDonald. Burial will be in Murray's Point Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Merigomish & District Fire Hall following the graveside service. Donations may be made in his memory to Murray's Point Cemetery or a charity of choice.

Helen (daughter of George Chester Dewar and Mary Isabel Foote) was born 20 Mar 1924, Marshy Hope, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada; died 22 Dec 1998, Riverton, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada; was buried , Murray Pont Cemetery, Lower Barney's River, , Nova Scotia, Canada.
