    In Memory of Thelma Rae (MacKinnon) Girvan
    February 21, 1926 - November 26, 2010 Obituary
    Girvan, Thelma Rae - Passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home, on November 26 in her 85th year. Born in 1926, she was the daughter of William and Della McKinnon and beloved wife of the late William Alward Girvan.
    Mother of Bill Girvan (Vi) of BC, Donna Englehart (Mike) of ON, Bruce Girvan (Clara) of AB, Richard Girvan (Martina) of Campbellton, Gordon Girvan (Shirley) of AB, Della Hefford (Dave) of AB and Darla McKeil (Dan) of AB. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Everett McKinnon (Theresa) of Tide Head. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Gary Girvan in 1956; and sisters, Bernice Leggett and Joyce Fraser.
    A lifelong resident of Campbellton, Rae was very active in the community. She was an active member of the United Church prior to her illness and was a former member of the UCW as well as a Sunday school teacher. She was a Life Member of the Campbellton Branch # 19 of the Ladies Auxiliary, and held many positions, including President. She and Dad also ran the Legion Bingo for a number of years. She was also an active member of the Campbellton Branch of the Eastern Star as well as the Rebecca Lodge of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association (L.O.B.A.) until ill health prevented active participation.
    Funeral services will be held from Maher's Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St., Campbellton on Wednesday December 1, 2010 with Rev. Cheryl MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be held at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 lansdowne St., Campbellton on Tuesday November 30 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Pallbearers, Albert Englehart, Michael Englehart, Mark Englehart, John Arnault, Steven Roussie and Dave Hefford.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Soldiers Memorial Villa, the Campbellton Regional Hospital and the Village Nursing Home for their care of our mother over the past few years.
    Arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
