    Obituary

Marjorie Stearns, an angel here on earth, departed this life on May 17th, 2013 to rejoin her family members that had preceded her. She was born June 6th, 1919 on a farm in rural Maine. Throughout her long life, she always retained the tough spirit and accent that identified her as a Down east Yankee. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Merton Stearns, and her oldest son, Stewart. Marjorie is survived by her son, Allan and very special daughter in law, Carol, their two sons Joshua (Suzie), and Gareth (Erin), and 4 great grandchildren, Hannah, Jack, Ethan, and Brandon. She is also survived by her sister Rebecca Haley of Brunswick, Maine.
Marjorie grew up in Maine and started her adult life as a hairdresser. She met her husband in Maine just prior to World War II and they started their family in New Hampshire shortly after marriage in 1941. They moved around New Hampshire as her husband built his career in the railroad business.
They eventually moved to Concord, NH and there they raised their two sons. Following their retirements in the 1980’s, they moved to Fort Walton Beach in order to be close to their son and his growing family.
Marjorie was a wonderful cook, a trait she inherited from her mother, and a loving mother and grandmother. Her love of angels was reflected in the many angels she collected and preserved in her collections. She always maintained a certain reserve when meeting new people, but once the person became better acquainted; they were a friend for life.
She was immensely proud of her sons and daughter in law, who became very devoted care givers, as Marjorie’s health declined in her last years.
Now that she has been reunited with loved ones, she will become one of the chosen angels who will be watching over her earthly family.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life followed by a reception at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 363 S.W. Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL on Friday, May 24th, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or to the Fort Walton Beach Family YMCA.
We are not saying goodbye to Marjorie. We are saying “Until We Meet Again.”
