    Edward Frederick Scott of Hanover passed away on Tuesday June 2, 1998.  He was 87.  Born in Kingsville in 1910, he lived his early years in Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.  In 1935 he joined the Knechtel Furniture Ltd. as sales representative for the Maritime provinces.  From 1941 to 1946, he was on leave of absence to serve in the Canadian Army, returning from overseas with the rank of Captain.  In 1946 he moved to Montreal as area representative for he Knechtel company.  He was appointed Sales Manager for Eastern Canada in 1959.  Then for a period of two years, he worked for E. Thibeault of Quebec as Vice President, Sales Manager and Director.  In 1962 Mr. Scott returned to Knechtels, in Hanover, where he held senior management positions until he retired from the company in 1982.  Later that year, he joined Heirloom of Canada in Chelsey, where he held a senior management position until his retirement in 1989.  Mr. Scott was appointed a member of the Canadian Government Furniture Industry Mission to High Point, N.C., New York and Chicago in the year 1963.  He has served as president and director of the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Association.  He has been a long time elder of the Presbyterian Church.  He has also served as president of the Hanover Rotary Club, the Hanover branch of the Canadian Cancer Society, and of the Bruce, Dufferin-Grey Lung Association.  Survived by wife Avril (nee Smith) Scott, daughters, Dorothy and her husband Robert Stoutjesdyk of Montreal, Mary and her husband James Campbell of Toronto, grandchildren, Carolyn, Andrew, Sabrina, Dexa and Stacey, a brother Dr. William R. Scott and his wife Margaret of Vancouver B.C.  Predeceased by a brother John in infancy.  Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  A Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 5, 1998 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Hanover.  Rev. Alice Wilson officiated.  Interment in Hanover Cemetery.  Pall bearers were Elmer Hickling, Sam Smith, Laverne Baker, John Aljoe, George Braithwaite and Jack Ward.  Honorary Pall bearers were Glen Crockford, Pat Carpenter, Millie Allen, Stuart McFadden, Jim Cameron, Garnet Brigham, Clendon Hartman, Earl Penfold, Bob Bruetzner, Doug Clarke.  Memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital, St. Andrews Church or Saugeen Villa were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
