Bona-vol.3,p.884-b.yr,marr.info. He was at Carleton on the census of 1777 and at Memramcook several years later. B27-p.26-marr.info; With his brother, Pierre, he fled the English when Fort Beausejour was captured in the summer of 1755. He married at Port Lajoie on Ile Saint Jean in 1757;his brother was one of the witnesses at his marriage. The young couple sought refuge at Restigouche where in 1760, they baptized a child. "Par la suite" the family settled at Carleton, in the Gaspe. Towards 1780, the family came to settle at Minudie. One of their sons, Alexis, married and settled at Cap Pele about 1806. He is the ancestor of one of the roots of this family in that region. J03-p.134-Born at Chipoudie in 1734,he was found to be at Point Beausejour in 1754...With his brother, Pierre, he escaped the English at the fall of Fort Beausejour. Along with other Acadians, his two brothers(pierre & Jean), they fled to the Gaspereau River -today Port Elgin-and in following the road of this area came to Shemogue and eventually to l'ile Saint Jean. They crossed the Red Sea(the Strait of Northunberland) in some small boats and eventually arrived at Port Lajoye. He married at Port Lajoye...With the surrender of l'ile Saint Jean in 1758,Michel Brun and his spouse and family, along with Pierre Brun, sought refuge at Restigouche. There his son Pierre was baptised...In 1780, or 81, Michel Brun, his spouse and four of their children ...left Carleton to go to Champs-Elyses, and in 1791, it was said that Michel Brien was a poor discreped man. He died a widower in the middle of this last year.

  7. 14.  Claude Bourgeois (son of Joseph Bourgeois and Anne LeBlanc); died 1769, Minudie.

    Notes:

    New notes:
Stephen White in his article on the 37 families says that Claude is the son of Joseph Bourgeois and Anne LeBlanc. Joseph Bourgeois and Anne were transported to Massachusetts along with seven of their children. Joseph Bourgeois died in 1764 in Beverly, Massa chusetts. Claude Bourgeois, the son of Joseph, seems to have escaped the expulsion of 1755. Around 1760, he enters into a marriage contract with Anne Bourque, daughter of Jean Baptiste Bourque and Marie Theriault. Claude and Anne are found at Pisiguit during the 1760's.

    Old notes:
name&dates-Bona A,vol.2,pp457,459-says that he died in 1760 in Mass. where he was deported with his family im1755. His widow and his children later settled at Saint Jacques de l'Achigan in Quebec. --DISCREPANCY B23-p.79-says that Claude married only once to Marie LeBlanc but it is known that there are errors in the text with regards to the Bourgeois' that settled around Minudie area. J03-p.123- gives two children of Claude Bourgeois and Anne dit Nanette Bourg;states that Claude died around 1769 and his widow remarried in 1771 to Paul Forest. T15-Bourgeois notes give two marriages for Claude Bourgeois-this is what I shall go by for now. I know she has collaborated with Lois Graham over this family. I shall check with Irene and Lois to see how they backup this info. B24-see Laurent a son of Laurent in genealogy section at back of book - another discrepency to examine. T15-says that he and his second wife settled at Aulac, N.B.;he died in 1769 and his widow remarried Paul Forest in 1771.

Claude married Anne(Nanette) Bourg 1760. Anne(Nanette) (daughter of Jean Bourg and Marie Theriault) was born Abt 1736, Beaubassin; died 1 Oct 1784, Minudie. [Group Sheet]
