    Norman B. Shepherd, 84 of Hanson died on February 12, 2011 at the Radius Healthcare Facility in Plymouth after a period of failing health.
    He was born in Hanover, son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Baillie) Shepherd and was raised in Hanson and educated there and in Hanover. Norman was a longtime employee in the maintenance department of the former CALO Pet Food Co. and he later worked for Coburn Wilbert Vault Co., South Shore Packing and My Three Sons Hardware.
    He belonged to Wampatuck Lodge of Masons in East Bridgewater and was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was the current Worthy Patron and past Worthy Patron of Pilgrim Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He was Past Grand Warder of the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts, Order of the Eastern Star.
    Norman was a volunteer at the Hanson Food Pantry and former volunteer firefighter in Hanover. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.
    He is survived by his wife Lorraine P. (Sylvia) Shepherd and his children, David L. Shepherd and his wife Linda of Hanson and Lori E. Shepherd and her husband Robert Zaruba of Taunton. He was the grandfather of Sunni Willis, Lenna Sweeney and Kara Ready all of Hanson. Also surviving are 6 great grandchildren and 3 nieces.
    The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Norman’s life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5:00-8:00PM. A funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday February 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Steve Youd officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Center Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Tri-Town Lodge 38 Franklin St. E. Bridgewater, MA 02333

    Lorraine P. (Sylvia) Shepherd, 82, of Hanson, a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, died July 26 at Radius Health Care, Plymouth, following a period of failing health. She was born in Whitman, daughter of the late Bernice (Gay) Gerrish and Earl Sylvia. She was raised in Hanover and was a graduate and class valedictorian at Hanover High School. She and her husband, the late Norman B. Shepherd, lived most of their lives in Hanson. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Hanson for many years, as well as First Baptist Church in Hanson, where she was a deaconess. Mrs. Shepherd was known for her thoughtful notes, letters and cards sent to friends and those in need. She and her husband took pride in participating in the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon. She is survived by her son, David L. Shepherd of Hanson and his wife Linda; a daughter, Lori E. Shepherd of Taunton and her husband Robert Zaruba; three granddaughters, Sunni Willis, Lenna Sweeney and Kara Ready, all of Hanson; and six great-grandchildren. Visiting hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Magoun- Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hanover Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the hospice group, Christen Foundation, 32 Resnick Rd., Suite 3, Plymouth, MA 02360.
