    GORDON, Gary Stewart - 61, Oxford, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Annie (Stewart) Gordon. Gary was General Manager of Gordon's Greenhouses from 1962 to 1983. He was then President of Sugarloaf Fish Farms from 1988 to 2000. Over the years, he served as Director for Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia, Flowers Canada, and Nova Scotia Fin Fish Farmers Association. He was also President of Nova Scotia Greenhouse Growers Association and Flowers Canada, Atlantic Region. Gary was a former member of Oxford Fire Department, Oxford Kiwanis Club and Oxford Area Lions Club. He was a member of Winburn Lodge No. 79, Oxford. He is survived by his wife, the former Norma Jackson; son, Andrew "Chink", Truro; daughters, Paula (Marcel) Wolfe, Toronto, Ont.; Carrie (Rick) Vassallo, Halifax; brothers, David (Janice), Truro; Gay (Debbie) and Keith (Marilyn), both ofOxford; sister, Bessie Brookins, Oxford; grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Chelsea, and Robbi-Lynn. He will also be missed by his special cat, Bobbi. He was predeceased by his sister, Edith Reynolds. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 7, in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford (447-2930). Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 8, in Oxford United Baptist Church, Pastor Connie Stewart officiating. Donations may be made to Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre Palliative Care, Pine Grove Cemetery or a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at: macdiarmid@eastlink.ca

    Norma Jean Gordon (January 23, 1950 - September 7, 2012)Gordon (Jackson), Norma Jean - 62, Oxford, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of Jeanette Jackson and the late John Jackson. Norma is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Rick) Vassallo; Paula (Marcel) Wood; son, Andrew Gordon; beloved companion, Howard Black; sisters, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman; Teri (Rick) Porter; Betty Jackson; Carol Jackson; Grace (Syd) Archer; Holly (Dan) Rector; Pearl Jackson; Laurie (Garry) Payne; brothers, Brian (Belinda); Rob (Connie); Jim (Darlene); grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Chelsea, Robbi Lynn and Lila; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Gordon; father, John Jackson, nephew, Jessie Payne. Norma was a member of several local groups over the years including Oxford Area Lionettes, Pythian Sisters, Oxford Curling Club, and Oxford Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time at her cottage at the beach where she enjoyed collecting sea glass on longwalks. Norma loved caring for all creatures especially her cat Bobbi. She was a devoted fan of Johnny Reid music and attended many of his concerts. Norma also enjoyed attending yard sales, shopping, playing dominos and cards, traveling and dancing. Most importantly Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, she was full of laughter and shared her kindness and enthusiasm for life with everyone who knew her. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930). A service celebrating Norma’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 13 in Trinity United Church, Oxford. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at the QEII 5.2 as well as the emergency department and Jennifer Fifield for the loving care provided to Norma and her family.     John G Jackson
    1929-2008

    It is with great sadness, that the family of John G. Jackson of Chapman Settlement, announce his sudden passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Saturday, Feb., 2, 2008.

    Born in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George and Nellie (Feltham) Jackson.John was a "Jack of All Trades", being a carpenter, fisherman, gardener and hunter. A home body, he enjoyed card games and music, his collection of talking toys, his family, his friends and his cats.

    John will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Jeanette (Ackles); 12 children, Norma Gordon, Brian (Belinda) Jackson, Merry Anne (Bill) Chapman, Teri (Rick) Porter, Betty Jackson, Carol Jackson, Grace (Sid) Archer, Holly (Dan) Rector, Pearl Jackson, Laurie (Garry) Payne, Robbie (Connie) Jackson and Jim (Darlene) Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 sisters, Margaret (Eugene) Haynes, Evelyn (Douglas) Haynes and Pearl Gallant. He was predeceased by sisters, Annie, Lillian and Viola and by brothers Alfred and Avery.

    The remains are being cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. John's family will receive friends at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 68 Church St., Amherst on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2 pm, Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating.

    MRS. ELLEN (NELLIE) A. JACKSON, 78, widow of George W. Jackson of Lorneville will be buried today following funeral service in the Lorneville United Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Heber Kean officiating. She died Thursday in the Highland View Hospital, Amherst. She was born in Bristol, England. She is survived by six daughters, Viola (Mrs. Norman Locke) Brookdale; Lillian (Mrs. Gerald Turner); Pearl (Mrs. Bill Mountain) and Evelyn (Mrs. Douglas Haynes) all of Lorneville; Annie (Mrs. Harry Noiles) Amherst; Margaret (Mrs. Eugene Haynes), Tidnish; three sons, Alfred, Nappan; Avery, Leicester and Jonnie, Chapman Settlement; one brother Harry Faltham, Amherst; 69 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
