    Joseph Henry McDonald passed away at the Kelowna General Hospital on January 20, 1995 after a valiant battle with cancer.  He was born in Oxford, N.S., on January 4, 1921.   He was engaged in lumbering and farming for several years.  In 1953 he moved his family to the Yukon and was employed with Cassiar Asbestos Company for 20 years.  In 1974 he retired and moved to the Okanagan where he enjoyed gardening and his many woodworking projects.   He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ethel (Embree); two daughters, Shirley (Chris) Turton of Kelowna and Joy Lynn Longman of Vancouver; two sons, Darrell (Marilyn) McDonald of Greenwood and Timothy (Alma) McDonald of Fort Smith. N.W.T.; 13 grandchildren, Troy (Laurie) Turton, Mark (Mary Jane) Turton, Cindy (Clem) Therrien, Jennifer Turton, all of Kelowna; Ian (Lavine) McDonald, Joseph (Janet) McDonald, Corrinna McDonald, all of Vancouver; Paula Holm, Coralee Wray, Fort St. John; Meika (Shawn) Flett, Erica McDonald, Jonathan McDonald, Charlotte McDonald, Chantelle McDonald, all of Fort Smith; 13 great-grandchildren, NaTasha, TaNeil, Nicole, Tanya, Derrek, Benjamin, Kealey, Aaron, Dakota, Tori, Lucas, Desmond and Veronica; also survived by one sister, Eva Wood, Cobourg, Ont.; one brother, Eugene (Jenny) McDonald, Oxford.  He was predeceased by his father, John H. McDonald and mother, Kezia (Mattinson) McDonald, Oxford; sisters, Freda Coles, Fredericton; Shirley McDonald, Oxford; brother, Jeremiah McDonald, Oxford.   Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westbank United Church, Rev. Bill Laurie officiating.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society c/o Kelowna General Hospital.

    OXFORD - John Henry McDonald, 86, of Oxford died Sunday at Sunrise Villa Nursing Home, Pugwash.  Born at Mount Pleasant, he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Ellen (McQuinn) McDonald.  He was a retired mason.  He is survived by two daughters, Eva (Mrs. John Wood), Oxford; Freda (Mrs. Sydney Coles), Fredericton, N.B.; three sons, Jeremiah and Eugene, both of Oxford; Joseph, Whitehorse, Yukon; a sister, Mabel (Mrs. Stanley Dixon), Oxford; a brother, Frank, Oxford; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Kezie Mattinson of Lake Killarney; and his second wife, the former Lydia King of Oxford; and a daughter, Shirley Ann; three sisters, Lina Dickie, Lottie Mattinson, and Hilda Mattinson.  The body is at Black's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday.  Rev. Edgar Patriquin will officiate.  Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.

    The death occurred Wednesday, July 21, 1943, at the Highland View Hospital Annex, Amherst, N.S. of Kezia G. McDonald, beloved wife of John H. McDonald, Mt. Pleasant.  She was born at Shinimicas on Jan. 30th, 1893, the daughter of Lucinda Mattinson and the late Joseph E. Mattinson.  The late Mrs. McDonald was a member of the United Baptist Church, Oxford for the past twenty years.  She was held in high esteem by [a] wide circle of people, being a loving mother, good friend and a kind neighbour.  Mrs. McDonald leaves to mourn their losses a loving husband, two daughters, Eva, Mrs. John Wood, Oxford, Freda, Mrs. Robert Henderson, Woodstock, N.B., three sons, Jerry and Eugene of Oxford and Joseph of Mt. Pleasant, also her aged mother and several grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Barbric, two brothers, Miner and Alex Mattinson of Mass.  The funeral service was held on Sunday, July 25, at 2 P.M. from her late home in South Oxford.  Rev. Mr. Estabrooks of the United Baptist Church conducted the service.  The scripture reading was taken from St. John's Gospel, 14th chapter.  Hymns sung were, "Does Jesus Care", Blest Be the Tie That Binds".  A duet was rendered by Mrs. Wylie Doncaster and Mr. Estabrooks, "Good Night and Good Morning".  The interment was made in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.  The pallbearers were Frank McDonald, John Wood, Albert McDonald and Llewelyn McDonald.  The floral tributes were many and beautiful and as follows...
