    Sutton, VT - Alicia Beals Ogden, formerly of Brattleboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, VT at the age of 92.
    Alicia was born on April 24, 1918 at the Beals farm in Guilford, VT, the daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Hawkins) Beals. Alicia married Arthur Leon Ogden on the Beals Farm on April 23, 1939.
    She was raised and educated in Guilford and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, class of 1936.
    Alicia was active in the Guilford Grange for many years. Leon and Alicia were one of the first members that started the Guilford Recreation Club and were responsible for starting one of the men's baseball teams. Alicia was a member of the Guilford Historical Society, the Guilford Fair Association and the Broadbrook Grange. She was constantly doing needlepoint and donating her time and beautiful work to the Guilford Community Church.
    Of her pastimes and interests she enjoyed homemaking, gardening, crafts, sewing, music, outdoor activities, and time shared with her family, especially her grandchildren.
    Leon and Alicia were married 35 years when Leon passed away on February 4, 1974. Alicia later married Emerson Thomas of Brattleboro who passed away in the year 2000. In 2008, Alicia moved to Sutton, VT to live with her son, Neil and daughter-in-law Debby due to medical reasons.
    She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters; Francese Smith, Marion Canedy and Shirley Sebert, and two brothers; Charles and Harry Beals.
    Survivors include her son Neil Ogden and wife Debby Gutierrrez Ogden of Sutton, VT; son, Daniel Ogden and wife Eileen Cullen Ogden of Springfield, MA, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Private Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Guilford Community Church with Rev. Lise Sparrow officiating. Burial will take place in the Ogden family lot in Christ Church Cemetery. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guilford Community Church, 38 Church Drive, Guilford, VT 05301, Attn: Rev. Lise Sparrow.
