    Ronald F. Allen

    The death of Ronald F. Allen occurred at his Baie Verte home on Sunday evening, February 17, at the age of 65. Born in Baie Verte, he was a son of Mamie (Oulton) and the late Wilson Allen. A lumberman and sawmill operator, he was the leader of the family band and operator of Allen's Sleigh Rides and Farm Vacations. He was a member of the Port Elgin Rotary Club, Amherst Boat Club, N.B. Federation of Agriculture and the Baie Verte United Church. He was a director of the N.B. Board of Tourism. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife Olive (Goodwin) Allen, both of Baie Verte; four sons, Gary and Austin of Baie Verte, Carl of Sackville, Brian of Charlottetown; two daughters, Mrs. Kevin Patterson (Marjorie) and Mrs. Christopher Kean (Dorothy), both of Point de Bute. Two brothers, Lyman and Garnet of Moncton; two sisters, Mrs. David Booth (hazel) of London, Ont. and Mrs. Allison Cusack (Pauline) of Moncton; 14 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren also survive. The body is resting at Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin, until Thursday, when it will be taken to St. James United Church, Baie Verte, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Fernwood cemetery, Port Elgin, in the spring.

    Olive M. Allen
    It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Olive M. Allen, age 91, of Port Elgin, formerly of Baie Verte Road.  Olive passed away at the Countryside Residence on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
    Born in Lorneville, NS, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Emeline (Chapman) Goodwin.
    Olive was a member of St. James United Church, Baie Verte, and the UCW.  She was also a member of the Baie Verte Senior Citizens, the Point de Bute Women's Institute, the Tantramar Tourism Association, and a founding member of the NB Farm Vacation Association.  For many years she and her husband Ronald operated a Bed and Breakfast /Farm Vacation in Baie Verte and provided Sleigh Rides to various groups.
    She will be sadly missed by sons, Gary (Jean), Baie Verte, Carl (Evelina Tower), Sackville, Austin (Dianne), Baie Verte, and Brian (Helen), Point de Bute; daughters, Marjorie (Kevin) Patterson, Point de Bute, Dorothy (Chris) Kean, Cape Tormentine; brothers Fraser (Arlene) Goodwin, Lorneville, NS and Arthur (Charlotte) Goodwin, Fredericton; sisters, Ruth (Harold) Hicks, Moncton and Martha (Clarence) Lowe, Amherst, NS; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren
    She was predeceased by her husband Ronald in 1985, special friend Walter Trenholm in 2003 and by a brother Robert in 1996.
    Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (506-538-2241) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  The funeral service will take place on Thursday from the St. James United Church, Baie Verte at 2 pm.  Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery

    TRENHOLM, C. Ralph - 88, Fort Lawrence, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2003, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, surrounded by his family. Born in Fort Lawrence, he was a son of the late Charles and Blanche (Smith) Trenholm. Ralph was a farmer all his life. He took over his grandfather's farm in Fort Lawrence where he and his wife lived all their married life and raised their family. Ralph was well-known for his cattle showmanship in the local area and as far away as the CN Exhibition in Toronto. He and his wife delivered the rural mail in Fort Lawrence for 36 years. Ralph is survived by daughters, Mary (Elmore) Gilroy, Fort Lawrence; Pat (Carl) MacEachern, Little Forks; Pauline Trenholm and Joyce Trenholm, Moncton, N.B.; son, David (Donna) Trenholm, Fort Lawrence; sister, Eileen Wright, Penticton, B.C.; brothers, Ivan Trenholm, Amherst; Norman (Katherine) Trenholm, Kelowna, B.C.; grandchildren, Kathy, Rick, Charlene, Sherry, Troy, Tanya, Vernon, Alisha and Natasha; great-grandchildren, Hilary, Stephanie and Laine Marie; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, the former Gladys Atkinson; son, Winston in infancy; grandson, Randy in infancy. His remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, with visitation on Saturday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Campbell's Chapel, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Lawrence Cemetery.
