    Donald Earle McCormack (July 20, 1930 - February 21, 2013), 82 of Lower Sackville and formerly of Dartmouth passed away February 21, 2013 at home with his loving family beside him after a long illness with Parkinson's disease and Dementia. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Cumberland County on July 20, 1930, he was a son of the late Earle and Verlie (Read) McCormack. Upon graduating from Oxford High School, he taught school for a year before starting his career of 42 years with the Bank of Nova Scotia in various locations throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He enjoyed being with his family and friends at their Amherst Shore cottage, taking pride in his garden as well as fishing in Annabel's Brook. He was an outdoorsman and loved walking in the woods in the fall with his friends. He and Marion enjoyed many trips in Canada, U.S.A., The United Kingdom and Europe. Don was a member of Knox United Church in Lower Sackville. He served on various committees and was an elder in other churches where he and Marion previously lived. He loved music, to sing songs and square dance with Benny Slade's Square Dance Club in Dartmouth for over 20 years. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion (Trueman); son, Walter (Nancy), Pugwash; daughter Marlene (Tim) Baglole, Lower Sackville; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Willa Black, Oxford; brothers, Eldon (Jean), Brookdale, Victor, Roger (Winnie), Harris (Edna), Mt. Pleasant; aunt, Ferne Forsythe (97 years), Moncton; brother-in-law, James Trueman, Amherst as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his sister, Gwendolyn; sister-in-law, Dorothy Trueman; brother-in-law, Charles Black; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Kathleen) Atkinson. Special thanks to the family, especially Walter, Marlene and Susan Baglole for their loving care which enabled Don to stay at home during his illness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville where a memorial service will take place 2pm Tuesday, Rev James Fraser and Rev. Ross Bartlett officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Parkinson's Society or charity of choice.     McCORMACK, Verlie Amelia - 90, Mount Pleasant Lodge, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died July 20, 1997, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Upper Nappan, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late Burton T. and Bertha J. (Smith) Read. She received her high school education at Cumberland County Academy in Amherst and attended Provincial Normal College in Truro, graduating in 1926. She taught school in South Mount Pleasant, Fenwick, River Philip and then at Oxford Elementary School until the time of her retirement. She was a member and elder of the Calvary United Church, Mount Pleasant, and in recent years was an adherent of Oxford United Baptist Church. She was the organist; a choir member; served as secretary treasurer and taught Sunday school at Calvary United Church, Mount Pleasant, for a number of years. She also served as president and secretary treasurer of Mount Pleasant Women's Institute for a number of years. Surviving are daughters, Gwendolyn and Willa (Mrs. Charles W. Black), both of Oxford; sons, Donald and wife Marion, Dartmouth; Eldon and wife Jean, Brookdale, Cumberland Co.; Victor, Roger and wife Winnie, Harris and wife Edna, all of Mount Pleasant; sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Whitehead, Cornwall, Ont.; Mrs. Mary Sherriff, Midland, Ont.; Mrs. Luetta Coates, Brookdale; Gladys (Mrs. Merriel Purdy), Oxford; Kathleen (Mrs. Edgar Mitchell), South Pugwash; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Earle; sisters, Mrs. Beulah Furlong, Mrs. Vivian Allen, Mrs. Minerva Ripley, Mrs. Merna Fraser; brothers, Price, Charles, Harold, Carlos, Eldon, James. Visitation will be this evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oxford United Baptist Church, Rev. Blair Holden officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
