    SACKVILLE, NB - Eugene Ross Dickie, 88, of Richardson Street, Sackville, New Brunswick, passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2006 at the Sackville Hospital. Born November 22, 1917 in Millvale, Nova Scotia, Eugene was a son of the late Owen and Margaret Dickie. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served his country for close to six years. Upon returning from overseas he worked as a Farmer for many years. He then became employed by the Dorchester Penitentiary as a Correctional Officer for approximately twenty years. On December 9, 1941 he was united in marriage to Frances King at the Baptist Parsonage in Oxford, Nova Scotia. Previously he was a member of the Dorchester Legion as well as the Masons, Dorchester Branch. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He loved gadgets, being outdoors for any activity like hunting, fishing in days of old and in later years on his scooter and most of all gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Frances; his children, Judy (Ron) Stephens, Betty (Alan) Woodworth, Gwen (Bob) Phinney and Cecil (Betty) Dickie. He is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and also by a special companion, Buffy the dog. He was predeceased by his brother, Tommy (Lawna) Dickie; and sister, Ida (Hubert) Purdy. A Commital Service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 for family and friends at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford, N.S. In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery or Canadian Cancer Society.

    Dickie, Frances A. (King) - 90, Sackville, NB and formerly of Mount Pleasant, NS, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Alma (Smith) King. Frances was an RNA at Sackville Memorial Hospital for many years. She is survived by her son, Cecil (Betty), Centre Village, NB; daughters, Judy (Ron) Stephens, Campbellford, ON; Gwen (Robert) Phinney, Sackville, NB; Elizabeth “Betty” Woodworth, Riverview, NB; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Dickie; brother, John “Jack” King. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930). A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
