    Hawkes, Wayne Arthur - 54 - Amherst, died July 3, 1997, at his home in Fort Lawrence.
    Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Orland and Clissie Alice (Dobson) Hawkes.
    He was employed with the Amherst Police Department with 20 years of service and was also self-employed with Wayne Hawkes Blueberries. He was involved with the Masonic Lodge and the Airforce Club. His interests were hunting and woodswork.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Charlene MacNutt, stepmother, Georgina Hawkes; daughter, Vickie and husband Jeff Bembridge, Amherst; sons, Douglas and wife Eva, Campbelton, N.B; Dwayne and wife Sherry, Moncton, N.B.; brother, Gary and wife Marily, Tidnish; sister, Gloria Stewart, Nappan; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be today, July 5, 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, from where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday, July 8 at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Amherst, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
    Burial will take place in Fort Lawrence Cemetary
