    Richard E. Hutchins of Sandwich, 90, died at home on June 14.
    Mr. Hutchins, who was known as Hutch, was born in Providence, Rhode Island, one of 12 siblings.
    Until four years ago, he was a familiar sight in Sandwich as he would routinely walk around town, continuing a practice from his youth to which he had attributed his good health and longevity.
    As a young man, Mr. Hutchins worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps, created by President Roosevelt in 1933 to provide jobs after the Great Depression. He started by implementing woodland conservation practices in Vermont, and then was sent to fight forest fires in Warrenton, Oregon.
    He was a World War II veteran. After graduating from the School of Aviation Medicine at Wendover Field in Utah, he went on to serve as a flight surgeon’s assistant in San Antonio, Texas.
    A born-again Christian, he was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hyannis.
    He leaves Janice L. (Cash) Hutchins, his wife of 57 years; his seven children, David R. Hutchins of Falmouth, Patricia M. King of Chicopee, Susan M. Hutchins of Mashpee, the Reverend Peter R. Hutchins of Laconia, New Hampshire, the Reverend Paul W. Hutchins of Bondurant, Iowa, Kathy L. Newton of Sandwich, and John J. Hutchins of Marstons Mills; 19 grandchildren: and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Edith Irwin of Ware.
    Visitation was to be this morning at 10 at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, followed by a memorial service to celebrate his life from 11 to noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

    Janice Lorrain Hutchins
    1930 ∼ 2014
    Janice Lorrain (Cash) Hutchins, 84, of Marstons Mills passed from death to eternal life on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the loving care and presence of her family after a 15 month battle with cancer.
    Born February 23, 1930 in Yarmouthport, MA Janice was a graduate of Yarmouth High School class of 1950.  She was married to Richard E. Hutchins on October 13, 1951 in Hyannis; they met each other while working at the Colonial Candle Factory of Hyannis.  After earning her LPN in 1968, Janice worked for a number of years at Whitehall Manor Nursing Home and Fraser Rest Home, both of Hyannis, always on the night shift, while raising six children.
    Pastor Prebble Cobb and his wife Martha, formally of the Calvary Baptist Church, of Hyannis, MA, led Janice and Richard to the Lord where they grew as a family in God’s love. Later in life, they became active members of New Testament Baptist Church of West Yarmouth, MA.
    Janice was very artistic and loved to paint, sew, knit and decorated beautiful cakes for her friends and family. She had one of the biggest hearts you could find, and was always going out of her way to help others in need, often to the neglect of her own self, but never to the neglect of her family.
    She is preceded by her husband, Richard, her parents Wilbur and Maydalene Cash, siblings Bessie “Betty” Francis, Wilbur “Junior”, and Ensign “Buddy”. She is survived by her step-son, David Hutchins and his wife Jane of Falmouth, MA; her children, Patricia King and her husband Richard of Chicopee, MA, Susan Hutchins of Mashpee, MA, Peter and his wife Diane of Laconia, NH, Paul and his wife Teresa of Bondurant, IA, Kathy Newton of Mashpee, MA, John and his wife Deborah of Marstons Mills, MA; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
    A period of visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Monday, December 8th at the
    John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills, MA, followed by a funeral home service beginning at 10:00 am.  Burial will be at 11:30 at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne.
