    Obituary

LATE N. STRANG OF BAIE VERTE

Correspondent Gives Sketch of a Well Know Resident - Native of P.E.I.

On Thursday, Sept, 13th., 1917, Baie Verte lost a valuable citizen, and the Methodist Church a faithful member, when Nathaniel W. Strang passed to his eternal home, after several weeks of severe suffering, patiently borne.

Deceased was born at Searltown, P.E.I., on August 12th, 1833, but had spent the most of his life of 84 years in Westmorland County, N.B..

Many years ago he removed from P.E.I., to the Emigrant Road. It was while living here that he was called upon to mourn the death of a daughter, and also the wife of his early years, whose maiden name was Eliza Jane Trenholm.

Some years after Mr. Strang was united in marriage with Mrs. Alfred Rayworth of Upper Cape.

Once again, however, he was called upon to commit the remains of a beloved wife to the grave.

With his children married and away, he felt the loneliness of his position keenly at this bereavement. It was while visiting a son in Austen, Mass., he met the lady whom he leaves to mourn his death, Mrs. Francis A Russell, who returned with him to Baie Verte, where they lived a quiet happy life.

He leaves to mourn his decease, a wife, two sons, Theodore C., and Fletcher, of the Emigrant Road, and three daughters, Mrs. Clarke Allen, Mrs. Ritchie Allen, both of Cape Tormentine, and Mrs. Frank Graham of Boston, Mass., and one sister, Jemima, who lived on P.E.I. besides several grandchildren.

The family regretted the absence of their pastor, Rev. Hugh Miller, who was attending the Social Service Committee in Toronto.

The Rev.Mr. Brownell, Presbyterian Minister of Port Elgin, attended the service at the house and preached in the Upper Cape Church, in which Mr. Strang had worshiped for many years, and delivered an effective address to the large number of friends and neighbors who attended.

Nathaniel married Eliza Ann Trenholm 13 Nov 1855. Eliza (daughter of John Trenholm and Charlotte Richardson Dobson) was born 18 Oct 1831, Bayfield, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada; died 25 Mar 1897, Emigrant Road, , New Brunswick, Canada; was buried , Bayfield Cemetery, Bayfield, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada.
