    Obituary

Many old friends in this province will hear with deep regret that Alexander Strang passed away at Sydney on Saturday morning. He had attained the ripe age of 72 years when death came. About two weeks ago Mr. Strang suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered. The deceased was proprietor of the Lansdowne Hotel at Cape Traverse for many years, removing from there to Sydney in the boom days. Mr. Strang was a man of good business ability and of excellent character. He enjoyed a large acquaintance throughout the province, as well as in Sydney. He was one of the strongest advocates of Cape Traverse as the winter port between Charlottetown and the mainland, and when a resident of the province contributed some interesting and informing letters on the subject.

His body was brought to Cape Traverse for burial and his funeral, which took place to Searletown on Tuesday, was largely attended. The service at the grave was conducted by the Masons, of which society he was long a leading member. Mrs. Ed. Crosby, of Cape Traverse, is a daughter. One of his sons, Edgar, is in Winnipeg, and his other son, Brent, is a resident of Sydney.
