    • Obituary: 1928; an unknown newspaper

    Notes:

Sherman Leblanc said that Louisa was 5 years old (sic 7 years) when she came to Canada in 1854 with her family. Her older (sic younger) sister, aged 7 (sic 5 years), died and was buried at sea on the voyage. Her parents settled in Minudie where her parents worked for "King" Seaman. The "king" was fond of Louisa's mother and had Louisa educated along with his own daughter, Lila, by a private tutor. Louisa had golden coloured hair and a clear fair complexion with rosy cheeks. She was a kind spoken woman; she did not meddle or gossip about other people. In her later years she had a stroke and was paralyzed somewhat in her legs. She spent her last years living with her daughter, Ida who married Damien White. She was a very tall woman. When Louisa's family came to Canada, other families by the name of Sherman, Glen and possibly Wolfe, came over to Canada with them and settled in Minudie.
My father, Sherman LeBlanc, had told me that Louisa was 87 when she died in 1936 (sic). This is not correct. Her death is recorded in the Nova Scotia Vital Statistics under Louise H LeBlanc. Louisa's death occured in Minudie on 27 Jan 1928 and her age is listed as about 82 years old. In actual fact, she was 81 years old and in her 82nd year of life.-note by A.Owen

    Birth:
Her marriage registration gives her age as 22 years when she married John LeBlanc in Dec 1869 and states that she was born in Germany.

Her baptism entry states that she was born at 2am in the morning on September 24th, 1846.

    Baptised:
Her baptism entry in the parish register gives her godparents as Andreas Weis, blacksmith, and Lorenz Burger, farmer. She was an illegitimate child when born and her father's name is not given. She was baptized at 3pm in the afternoon on September 25th, 1846.

Note: It is assumed that Ignaz Heitzler is her father. After her parents have married, Louisa/Luise shows up with her parents in the family book as a child of Ignaz along with her sister, Magdalena. -note by A.Owen

    Census:
She is found with her husband and widowed mother on the census and her age is given as 23.

    Census:
On page 37, in family #165, she is found with her husband and five of their children.

    Census:
She appears with her husband and three youngest adult children.

    Buried:
Note: the Nova Scotia Vital Statistics record of her death gives a burial date of 27 Jan 1928 at the RC Cemetery in Minudie, Nova Scotia. However, Bertha (Como) Stevens played the organ at a Requium Mass for Louisa on Feburary 6, 1928 at the Catholic Church in Joggins, Nova Scotia.

    Died:
Although Louisa is listed as a widow, her husband was still alive and living in Moncton with his son, Charles. He died several months after Louisa. Louisa's death was reported by her son Rufus LeBlanc.
