Genevieve Mary Strang SACKVILLE, NB - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Genevieve Mary Strang, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Port Elgin, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Beatrice (Forest) Leger. A retired restaurant supervisor, she was a member of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, CWL and East Westmorland Seniors Club. Mom will be sadly missed by nine children; six daughters, Frances (John) Hickmott, Saint John, Carolyn (Conan) Cadman, Ottawa, Barbara (Ken) Raeburn, Moncton, Gloria (Ernest) Estabrooks, Dorchester, Mary (Roger) Fields, Malden and Monica Strang, Sackville; three sons,Robert (Simonne), Malden, Jerry (Linda), Murray Corner and Charles, Port Elgin; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a brother, Michael (Anne) Leger, Ontario; 3 sisters, Bernadette (Layton) Patterson, Jolicure, NB, Jean (Gordon) Gower and Joan (Joe) Nowackie, both of Hamilton, ON. She was predeceased by our father, Olin Strang, sister Gloria and brother Edgar. The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home, 3 W Main St., Port Elgin on Sunday, August 14, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Malden on Monday, August 15, 2005 at 11 am. Interment in the Parish Cemetery www.jonesfuneralhome.caChildren:

From Maureen (Strang) Barry: "Fletcher's second wife, Mabel Pauley, was only six years older than his oldest daughter, Marjorie. When his wife died giving birth to his youngest daughter in 1909, as I understand, Marjorie helped look after the other children in the family. She would have been 10 years old when her mother died so it is understandable that she was unhappy being bossed by another young teenage woman when he married Mabel Pauley."
