My parents met in Hamilton, Ontario in 1947 just after the Evelyn Dick murder trial. The Steel Company of Canada was on strike. The labour union strike had turned
extremely violent and dangerous. The RCMP had been called in to help with crowd control and to arrest the more violent ring leaders. My Dad was one of the
undercover plain clothes RCMP officers. During the war, he was a test pilot in the RCAF (signed up in NB). After the war, he joined the RCMP out in Manitoba were
he taught manual defence and horse handling/riding.
