A former resident of Cape Wolfe, widow of the late Deacon William Thomas Costain, she was known and beloved by young and old. A humble and sincere follower of her Lord and Master, her life was a veritable benediction to all with whom she came in contact. Sixty years ago she founded the Women's Missionary Society at Locke Road, which later became the Springfield W. M. S., of which she was president for over forty years. The funeral service was on Tuesday afternoon, Mch. 24th from the home of her sister, Mrs. Janie Smallman of O'Leary, to the Springfield Baptist Church, and was conducted by her Pastor, Rev. C. 0. Howlett. Some of her favorite Hymns were sung: "The Lord's My Shepherd", "Rock of Ages", and "Safe in The Arms of Jesus". A splendid solo "The Heart That Was Broken for Me", was beautifully rendered by J. B. Lewis of Freetown. Mrs. Costain was pre-deceased by her husband fourteen years ago.
