It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reg Banks. Reg was born in Toronto, ON to Grace (Woodeh) and Thomas Banks. He was active in sports during his childhood and was a proud member of Runnymede Collegiate Rugby team which who won the provincial championship in 1939. Reg joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in March 1942 during WW II and served his country by teaching parachute skills to for the forces. After the war Reg was provided the opportunity by the RCAF to move to the west coast. During a return trip on the ferry from Victoria, BC he met his future wife Kay. Reg and Kay settled in North Vancouver where they raised their sons Chris and Michael. Reg was very involved in his sons' activities, never missing a football game or other sporting activities. He also was an avid golfer at Glen Eagles golf course in West Vancouver and played until he was 90. The main love in Reg's life was his family. We will cherish our wonderful memories together of holidays, family fun days and time around the table enjoying a good meal and a glass of red. Reg is survived by son Michael; daughters-in- law Jane and Carol (Chris); granddaughters Aleana and Brenna (Brad) and grandsons Andrew, Jeff (Anna) and David (Joanna); dear friend Donnie and many extended family members. Reg was preceded by his mother Grace, father Thomas, brother Gordon, sister-in-law Renee, wife Kathleen (Kay) (Oulton) and son Chris. We will be forever thankful for his loving manner, huge sense of family, being the guiding force in our lives, his kindness, calm demeanor, great sense of humour. His greetings of "Hi Dear", and the way he said "I sure love you" will be missed. We love you "Pop" and you will be forever in our hearts. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Association or Alzheimer Society.
