    Obituary

WOOLWICH — Ronald C. Oulton, 90, of Woolwich, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Jalicue, Canada, on July 1, 1919, the son of Allen and Dorma Oulton. He moved to Maine as a small boy and grew up in the Bath area, graduating from Morse High School in 1936.

After high school, he worked at Hyde Windlass before being drafted into the Army during World War II. He returned home to work at Hyde Windlass and was recalled to the Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. Following the war, he worked at Bath Iron Works as a machinist. He retired in 1974.

Oulton married his first wife, Ella White, on Nov. 24, 1940, in Bath. She died on April 14, 1990. He married Carol A. Jenkins at the Corliss Street Baptist Church on April 16, 1991.

He was a member of the Corliss Street Baptist Church; a life member of the Solar Lodge No. 14 of Masons; a two-time past president of the Bath Area Senior Citizens; a Boy Scout leader; and a councilor for the city of Bath.

He loved to be with family and enjoyed being around the grandchildren.

He took up carpentry as a hobby after retiring, but it soon turned into full-time work, which left little time for his other interests, such as hunting, gardening and fishing.

Besides his first wife, Oulton was predeceased by a sister, Helen Black.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Carol; two sons, Richard Oulton of Edgecomb and Ralph Oulton and his wife, Frankie, of Cumberland; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Bolduc and her husband, Patrick, of Augusta; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Corliss Street Baptist Church, 402 Middle St., Bath, ME 04530.

At his request, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of his life will take place today, Monday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. To share thoughts and condolences with the Oulton family online, visit desmondfuneralhomes, com.
