    Joseph Robert Valerie “Val” LeBlanc
    1933-2023

    It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Robert Valerie "Val" LeBlanc,
    age 90, of Amherst.  Val passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Reid and Ella Mae (Terrio) LeBlanc. Val was a hard working man, who put 100% of himself into any job he took on.  He loved bluegrass music, walking, and was a self appointed Neighbourhood Watch.  He was a volunteer Fireman in Amherst for 25 years.  He loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Val will be sadly missed by his daughters, Karen LeBlanc (Chris MacDonald),  and Maria Hicks (Reg McGrath), both of Amherst; special son, Joey (Meagen Bowers), Amherst; son in law Eric Richard, Amherst; grandchildren, Samantha MacDonald, Rachel MacDonald, Cody Hicks, Seth Richard, Duran Beckstead, Amy MacDonald and Marshall MacDonald; great grandchildren, Blake, Emma, Elijah, Blair, Demarco, Meghan, and Mya. He was predeceased by his wife June and daughter Nadine Richard; sisters Dorothy Lawless and Lorraine Hashey.
    Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Jones Family Funeral Centre,70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the Holy Family Parish, Amherst, on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 11 am.  All are invited to a time of reception in the church hall following the funeral mass. Burial will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery following the reception. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Maggies Place, The Cumberland Cancer Care Society, or the MS Society. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.jonesfamilyfuneralcentre.ca  or through the Jones Family Funeral Centre Facebook Page.

    June Joan LeBlanc
    1933-2013
    June Joan LeBlanc, 79 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013. born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late John"Jack" & Esther (Thrasher) Wood. She had worked for Aerovox for over 20 years. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and golf. When she was able to in later years she enjoyed bingo. She loved going for walks with Val. June was very active with the YMCA and participating in various activities. She loved taking all of her grandchildren to Maggie's place. She was known as Granny LeBlanc to many. June will be sadly missed by her husband of  56 years, Val LeBlanc; daughters, Karen LeBlanc (Chris) of Amherst, Nadine Richard (Eric) of Amherst, Maria Hicks of Amherst; special son, Joey (Sarah) of Amherst; sisters, Nancy Simpson of Amherst, Jean Siddal of Moncton, Muriel "Moe" Landry of Amherst; brother Jack (Kay) Wood of Amherst; sisters in law, Arlene Wood & Olga Lees both of Ontario; grandchildren, Samantha MacDonald, Rachel MacDonald, Cody Hicks, Seth Richard, Duran Beckstead; great grandchildren, Blake Johnston & Emma Johnston. Predeceased by brothers William, Peter; sisters Jacquline Corbett. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held from the Holy Family Parish on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. Burial to take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
