    Obituary

    A.Dara Melanson
    1929-2013
    A. Dara Melanson, 84, of River Hebert passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, March 17, 2013.  Dara was born in River Hebert on January 22, 1929, a son of Leo and Beatrice (Como) Melanson.
    Dara was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church.

    Dara had worked in the coal mines in River Hebert for over 30 years until their closure and was then  employed in Amherst with Costin Paving And Contracting until his retirement.

    He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.

    Dara leaves behind a daughter, Barb (John) Carter of Amherst; four grandchildren, Daniel of Fort McMurray, AB, Brittany (Kyle) Ouellette of Wabasca, AB, and Jillian and Meghan of Amherst; one great grandson, Carter Ouelette; a brother, Jude, Amherst; a sister, Lorraine Clark, Springhill, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, Dara was predeceased by his wife Theresa (Maloney); brothers, Ivan, Eugene, Basil, and Clair, and sisters, Eileen and Helen.

    Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert (251-2877) from where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.  A funeral service will be held 11am Thursday from St. Paul The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert.  Interment will be in the St. Denis Cemetery in the spring.

    Donations in memory of Dara may be made to the St. Denis Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.

    TheresaB. Melanson
    1925-2007
    The death of Theresa B. Melanson, age 82, of River Hebert, occurred peacefully Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Gables Nursing Home, Amherst, where she received special care the last 5 years.
    Born in Joggins, she was the youngest daughter of the late Daniel and Olivia (Shanahan) Maloney.
    Theresa was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert and a member of the CWL.
    Theresa will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Dara, River Hebert and by her daughter, Barbara (John) Carter, Brookdale, NS; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Brittany, Jillian and Meghan, who were the highlight of her later years and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John, James and Hugh and by sisters, Annie Scopie and Mary Burbine.
    The remains have been entrusted into the care of the River Hebert and Joggins Community Funeral Home (251-2877) from where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2007 from St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert at 10 am, Rev. Fr. David MacDonald officiating.Burial in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie, in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Denis Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donors choice would be gratefully appreciated.
