    Obituary

OULTON, ROBERT ALLISON - Moncton, NB - Al was always what he was called and he was a man of considerable accomplishments for his family, his involvement in out community and his most excellent years as an employee at ATV-CTV, in his final job with CTV, he was director of Engineering for Atlantic Canada. June 15, 1933 was a great day in Amherst for Tora and Robert Oulton, the proud parents of their first child. November 4, 2014 was indeed a sad day for his family and friends when Al passed away at the Moncton City Hospital. Al is survived by his wife Judith Jacobson and her three children Ryan, Richard and Jennifer; Al's dearest legacy, his children and their spouses, Richard and Delia, Bill and Virginia, Dale and Steve, Gina and Donald, and Collin and Sylvia. Most dear to him were his grandchildren Wanda, Chantal, and Melissa, and Thomas, Haley and Judith's children who loved Al and had a great relationship with them, the step-grandchildren Sam, Emma and Louis. Most outstanding was Al's desire to attain an Electrical Engineering Degree, he of course was a husband to Betty, father to his five children and working at a most demanding job. His late wife would help him, quizzie him etc, and lo and behold, Al attained his degree with Honours. Al's family were always first and then his job in the TV industry, which he loved was the first one there in the mornings. To make a revealing fact, that Al as Director of CTV Atlantic could take a six week holiday and hot have a worry about any problems at CTV and there were none! Remember "Christmas Daddies" that CKCW every November, Al was Chairman and more importantly the organizer with other employees at CKCW, their mass of toys and financial gifts went to the Salvation Army, who loved after this distribution of the gifts Moncton citizens gave to "Christmas Daddies". Al, also enjoyed his time working on the weekly Bingo that Kiwanis Club put on. The funds from these fun evenings provided many things for our city - my favourite was the 1967 (our 100th birthday) gift to Centennial Park. Al, also belonged to the Press Club and Probus. His time spent in the Moncton Art Society as a member and seven years as its president gave great vitality to the Art Society and produced many gallery showings for the members. He loved everything about art and had an outstanding member, accomplished artist, his late wife Betty. Al was a man of many talents, and also a private business man on two occasions, first Alton Electricity. If you don't know the electrical engineer who did the winning specs for both George Dumont Hospital and the Everett Chalmers Hospital -it was indeed Al! His last business was Alron Imaging which he began after his retirement from CTV. A very sophisticated process, with the use of an Iris Printer, he was the first business of this process extremely difficult in North America. Freeman Patterson upon seeing the process never had his work done anywhere else. Yes, a man for all seasons and yes, Renaissance man. And we must be reminded of his siblings, brothers Keith (deceased), Don and Winston, and his beloved baby sister Joan.
Funeral service will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 1:30pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Go in Peace, go in joy, go in love and rest in peace.
