    • As a locomotive fireman, Sherman used to fire for Hance, his brother who was a locomotive engineer. Hance's son, Wayne, said that Sherman and Hance used to switch roles sometimes as did other locomotive engineers and firemen working on the Joggins trains. Later Sherman fired for Johnny Dugay, another locomotive engineer.
